Types of Accommodation

Types of Accommodation

Hostels

Hostels are great as they are cheaper than Hotels, Resorts, Guest Houses and  Apartments. Hotels are a great place to meet other travelers and to pick up on the latest local news on your chosen destination.

Generally you will share a room, washing, toilet and cooking facilities with other travelers in your shared room. However, more-and-more hostels are offering private rooms and with en-suite bathrooms. What we have found is that hostels are general located in the best parts of a city near to the tourist attractions.

Hotels

Hotels

Hotels are star rated however these ratings are country by country so what maybe a 4 star hotel in  one country may not be a 4 star rating in another country. Out of all the different types of accommodations  available to travellers Hotels are generally more expensive and generally offer more facilities depending upon the location and the star rating.

If you book your hotel with your flight you will possible be offered or given a discount than if you were to book them separately. Most hotel accommodate for all types of travellers from solo (expect to pay a premium) business and families. Generally, hotels area located in the city center of the country that you intent to travel to.

Resort

Resort

Resorts are designed to accommodated package holiday travellers: Couples, Groups, Honeymooners and Families who generally book all–inclusive packages.

Resorts do offer rooms as Hotels do however, their prices are significant higher than if you were to book a package with them or via a tour operator. It is possible to get a daily pass to use the facilities at most resorts and hotels but again the prices are  higher and vary from resort-to-resort. Resorts and Hotels share many similarities however, the resorts are generally located on the coasts with sea front views and or local towns and rural areas.

Apartments

Apartments

Most of us who live in a city know exactly what an apartment is and what facilities come with one : basic living area, kitchen, bathroom (with toilet or separate) and bedroom 1, 2, 3… Renting a apartment is ideal for for all types of travellers, who want to come and go as they please and experience living as a native of the country you intent to visit. There are now many websites that can arrange rentals and put you in contact with people who want to rent their apartment or home.

For example a lot of Brazilians in Rio and Sao Paulo leave the cities to go to the hometowns during carnival session so rent out their apartments.
